Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced and versatile Registered Nurse (RN) to join our combined acute care team, specializing in both medical/surgical (med/surg) and obstetrics (OBS). This role is ideal for RNs who are passionate about providing comprehensive care across multiple specialties in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide high-quality nursing care in both med/surg and obstetric units.
- Assist in labor and delivery, as well as post-partum care.
- Monitor and assess patients’ health conditions, implementing and evaluating individualized care plans.
- Administer medications and treatments as prescribed.
- Assist in emergency care, including triage and stabilization of patients.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Take on charge nurse responsibilities as needed, particularly during day shifts.
- Document patient care accurately and maintain detailed medical records.
Qualifications
- Experience:
- Minimum 1 year experience in OR / acute care (med/surg).
- Experience as an L&D/post-partum RN and in ER and triage within the last year.
- Certification:
- Current and active Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers (BLS-HCP).
- Current and active Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP).
- Current and active Fetal Health Surveillance (FHS).
- Current and active Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS).
- Current Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale (CTAS) certification.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Connect Care training (Rural Nurse, Postpartum Badge, L&D Badge, Therapy Plan Badge modules).
- Experience in cardiac, respiratory, trauma, and pediatric emergency care.
- Charge nurse experience.
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) certification.
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification.
- Experience using Obix.
- Previous experience working in a rural acute care/OBS/ER setting.
- Previous experience with Alberta Health Services (AHS) within the last 2 years as an RN in a similar unit.
